About the role

Based in Melbourne you will provide teaching, student support and leadership across the Clinical School and affiliated learning sites, working collaboratively with academic and professional staff to deliver high-quality medical education and foster strong stakeholder partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen partnerships with hospitals, medical practices and community stakeholders to promote the National School of Medicine.
• Coordinate curriculum timetabling, preparation and delivery for clinical year students.
• Support clinical placement negotiations and administration in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Partner with Discipline Leaders and clinical staff to coordinate teaching activities and student rotations.
• Develop and manage student timetables, ensuring high-quality and relevant clinical learning experiences.
• Oversee clinical teaching staff and rotation supervisors to maintain educational quality and consistency.
• Lead quality improvement activities and implement recommendations from the National Quality team.
• Monitor student progress, wellbeing and clinical skill development, providing support and referrals where required.
• Identify students requiring additional academic support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Deliver clinical teaching, including bedside teaching, tutorials and Grand Rounds coordination.
• Contribute to assessment activities, including examinations and OSCEs.
• Participate in School and University governance through relevant committees and working groups.

Qualifications, skills & experience

Level D (Associate Professor)

You will have the same skill base as a Level C Academic Employee. In addition there is a requirement for academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or re experience and recognised professional expertise in a medical field.

• A PhD or equivalence in experience and standing.
• Demonstrated significant experience in medical education and teaching.
• Demonstrated strength in professional leadership and reputation within a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop complex teams and foster a progressive working environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to interact effectively with a range of staff in a complex environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of medical education
• Proven commitment to pastoral care of students
• Demonstrated leadership and management qualities
• Excellent networking skill with key stakeholders, organisations and the health system.

Level E (Professor)

You will have the same skill base as a Level D Academic Employee. In addition there is a requirement for academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or research and/or the profession.

• A medical degree, Registration with AHPRA and Fellowship of a College plus extensive practice-based experience and recognised professional expertise in a medical field.
• A PhD or equivalence in experience and standing.
• Demonstrated significant experience in medical education and teaching.
• Demonstrated strength in professional leadership and reputation within a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop complex teams and foster a progressive working environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to interact effectively with a range of staff in a complex environment.
• Superior knowledge and understanding of medical education
• Proven commitment to pastoral care of students
• Demonstrated leadership and management qualities
• Excellent networking skill with key stakeholders, organisations and the health system.
